What is Civics?
Civics is an important part of education for all. Using our Ventures curriculum, civics is integrated throughout our ESL program. Some sample civics topics include:
- Housing
- Childcare
- School systems
- Financial systems
- Community and home safety
- Emergencies
- Health
- Transportation
- U.S. history and government
- Rights and responsibilities of legal permanent residents and U.S. citizens
- Information on the naturalization/citizenship process
During our summer 2014 ESL sememster, we'll focus more on civic skills and knowledge to help better prepare our students for their lives in the United States.
